Training is one of the first departments activated with the establishment of TAI. Orientation training of new employees, basic job training, certification when needed, periodic refresher training courses involving certain techniques that require certification, and periodic on-the-job training in work areas, constitute the basis of the training activities. Planning and coordination of in-plant and overseas training programs, essential for the production programs, play an important part in the activities of the department. Training activities for personnel from Production, Quality Assurance and other functional departments are carried out by monthly planning, in accordance with the TAI Personnel Certification Program. Classroom, laboratory or on-the-job training is given in line with the subject and the content of the programs.

TAI Training Department is composed of seven classrooms equipped with modern training auxiliaries and four different laboratories furnished with tools and benches which provide implementation of sample production and repair methods in subjects such as electrical harness furnishing, structural operations and sealing.

The basic training subjects can be grouped under the following headings:

  • Technical Data, Procedures, Documentation on Aircraft and Aerostructures,
  • Manufacturing and Assembly Operations,
  • Structural Operations/Composite Processes,
  • Electric/Electrical Harness Operations,
  • Quality Requirements,
  • Process Control/ Nondestructive Inspection Methods,
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Ground Support Equipment/Flight Line Operations/Aircraft Safety,
  • Occupational Health and Safety.

Under these main headings, detailed training on each project is given to concerned personnel with continuously updated programs covering project requirements. Currently, 250 different courses are available for various subjects regarding programs carried out at TAI. 60% of these courses are subject to certification.

In addition to TAI personnel, Training Department also provides training to the Turkish Armed Forces personnel in the above mentioned main fields. Upon request, various training services to in-country and foreign military and commercial organizations and companies are provided on various subjects including production, repair and others. In 1994, a total of 65 South Korean Aerospace Industries’ (Daewoo-Korean Air and Samsung) personnel and in 2006, a total of 26 Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) personnel received F-16 production training at TAI’s Training Department.
